Huffington Post, Cyndi Lauper will serve as a grand marshal in the 43rd annual event.
Lauper has always been a leader in the LGBT community, actively starring in numerous campaigns and events throughout the years and, of course, being a New York native made her an obvious choice.
"Pride is one of my favorite times of the year, and as a lifelong New Yorker, I am excited to get to celebrate it in the greatest city in the world," she noted in a release. "I look forward to marching down 5th Avenue arm and arm with my brothers and sisters in the LGBT community as we let the world know that we will not rest until equality for all becomes a reality."
Cyndi will be joined by other leaders, Chris Salgardo, President of Kiehl's beauty products, as well as Phyllis Siege and Connie Kopelov, who became New York's first-ever same-sex married couple on July 24, 2011 after 23 years together.
Pride NYC 2012 is scheduled for June 24.
